Have you ever wondered what are the origins of Roulette?
Lets have a look…Here are some interesting facts from the history of American Roulette:
1. The Roulette wheel was invented by Blaise Pascal, french inventor, physicist and matematician. Interesting is the fact, that in 1655 Pascal was not trying to find a casino game, but to invent a perpetual machine – a machine that continues to operate without drawing energy from an external source. Pascal as an inventor was attemtping the odds even the law of physics say it is impossible.
2. The Roulette Wheel as invented by Pascal remained the same until the mid- 19th century – the zero did not exist until 1842, when Francois and Lois Blanc designed a Roulette Wheel with a single zero on it, specifically for Prince Charles III of Monaco. Later on, he opened several gambling houses in Monaco, where Roulette became really popular game among aristocrats and royalty. Roulette Wheel generated a lot of income for Monaco in this time.
3. In the 1800s, Roulette made its way across the ocean onto US shores where a double zero was added to the Roulette Wheel. The double zero version became the accepted form of play and today it is known as American Roulette.
This is how one of the most popular casino games of all time was developed.
